Frequently Asked Questions

Q? Just how many damn genres do you write in?

A. Hmmm. As many as I want. It’s the beauty of being an independent author. OK, serious answer—crime fiction, horror, dystopian, urban fantasy… I think that’s all…for now.

Q? Why so many genres?

A. Growing up, I loved television shows like Starsky and Hutch and 80s horror slasher flicks. Later, shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and True Blood were favorites. And The Walking Dead is just bad ass. So, there ya go—crime, horror, urban fantasy, and dystopian. I write in the genres that entertain me. Honestly, I don’t have the attention span to….
Oh, write in a genre that I don’t love.

Q? What are you working on now?

A. Tons of stuff. The best way to keep up with my projects is to join my newsletter. I only send emails when I have something new or something cool I think you’ll enjoy. When you sign up, I’ll send you some free stuff. And your email is safe with me. I hate spam. (A tragic childhood memory, don’t ask.)

Q? Do I have to read your series in order?

A. No. But, reading the first three James Beamer Thrillers in order would make for a more pleasurable reading experience. That sounded a bit dirty, let me clarify. The books are standalone, but they have an ongoing plot that carries through. So, I’d probably read them in order. Sign up for my newsletter and I’ll give you Chasing Fireflies for free. *Shameless plug*

For Intruders, you should probably start with this one by the talented Tracy Sharp.

Q? Are your books available in paperback and audio?

A. Yep. Those that aren’t will be very soon. Check Amazon under my name.

Q? Can I get a signed copy of your book?

A. I mean…yeah…I guess…if you really want one. Drop me a line through the Contact tab on the menu and we’ll work it out.

Q? I’m interested in acquiring movie/television/foreign rights to your works. How do I go about that?

A. First. Awesome. Second, drop me a line through the Contact tab in the menu and we can talk.

Q? What’s this Slightly Used Words blog about?

A. Ah, you’ve been checking me out. Slightly Used Words is my little place where I talk about things not book related. I mean, sometimes I may talk book stuff, but mainly music, television, pop culture, and wrestling. I have some free stories there too. *As of writing this, I do not have any stories there, but I will. Promise*
